Reading Comprehension with Vocabulary 

Grade Levels: 1-5

Course Description

This course is designed to develop and strengthen reading comprehension skills for elementary students from grades 1 through 5. By engaging with age-appropriate texts, students will learn strategies for understanding story structure, identifying main ideas and supporting details, making inferences, and drawing conclusions. Emphasis will also be placed on vocabulary development, encouraging students to build and apply their vocabulary through context clues, word analysis, and interactive activities. The course aims to foster a love for reading while enhancing language skills that will support students across all subjects.

Reading Comprehension Strategies: Students learn to identify main ideas, supporting details, sequence of events, and make inferences to deepen text understanding.

Vocabulary Expansion: Develops word recognition and comprehension using context clues, synonyms, antonyms, and word analysis techniques.

Critical Thinking & Analytical Skills: Encourages students to analyze texts, draw conclusions, and make connections between ideas.

Fluency & Expression: Improves reading flow, intonation, and confidence, helping students read aloud with clarity and expression.

Contextual Understanding: Teaches students to interpret meaning based on context, enhancing their ability to grasp complex or unfamiliar words.

Text Interaction & Annotation: Promotes active reading through highlighting, annotating, and asking questions about the text.
